Based in Boonsboro, MD, Hub City Geeks breathes new life into old computers.
Did you know that 20 to 50 million metric tons of e-waste are disposed worldwide every year? And that recycling 1 million laptops saves the energy equivalent to the electricity used by 3,657 U.S. homes in a year? (DoSomthing.org 3/10/2021)
At the same time, with the increase in distance learning and telecommuting, there's an increased demand for electronic devices such as desktop computers, laptops, and tablets.
To fill this need, Hub City Geeks refurbishes and repairs used electronic devices - even broken ones. Unlike computer repair services who order brand new replacement parts and discard the old, we process computers in bulk and recycle used parts into working computers. The result is lower cost devices, which allows us (and our business clients) to pass that savings on to consumers. By extending the life of these used parts, we keep potentially hazardous metals and other chemicals out of landfills.
